The Giant Chimes

We made these originally to be played as a musical instrument for our then DJ.

They are tuned to the C4 octave and notes D.E,F#,A & B.

This is the third and largest set that we have made, all with the help of Lee Hite who is incredibly patient and generous with his time. This set is made from 6mm thick, 3 inch aluminium pipe, cut to very precisew lengths. They are suspended by steel cables that have been threaded through small holes drilled at exactly 20.4% of the length of each pipe, that is the resonance point. Like I said, rabbit hole, good luck!
